If you've decided to take the plunge and enter into the RVing lifestyle, chances are you have a lot of questions and are probably going to over pack on every trip you take for the next year or so until you learn what you need and what you don't need. The truth is, however, you don't have to suffer from "over packing syndrome." Instead, simply follow our checklist.

Kitchen

You'll want to stock your kitchen with everything you need to make a delicious meal, but keep in mind your RV's kitchen is significantly smaller than the one you have at home. Don't pack the food processor, juicer, blender, and toaster. Instead, try cooking meals that don't require these tools or invest in smaller versions (like a mini food processor that doubles as a blender).

  • Coffee pot or tea pot
  • Storage containers for food
  • One extra sharp chef's knife that can be used to chop both meat and vegetables
  • Foil, plastic wrap
  • Flexible cutting boards
  • Measuring cups
  • Pot holders
  • Serving bowls
  • Serving spoons
  • Cutlery
  • Plates/bowls
  • Can opener

Bathroom

Your bathroom is another instance where the space is limited. Try investing in baskets to organize your bathroom accessories and purchasing a hair straightener, curling iron, and blow dryer that is specifically dedicated to the RV so you don't have to worry about carting things between your house and RV.

  • Toilet paper
  • Hand towels
  • Bath towels
  • Outside towels
  • Hand soap
  • Shampoo
  • Toothpaste
  • Toothbrushes
  • Trash can; trash bags

Personal Items

Think about what you need to feel comfortable. Personal items are what make you feel at home. They might be your favorite pillows or blankets, your alarm clock, your child's stuffed teddy bear. Whatever it is that keeps you calm and comfortable you'll want to file under this section.

Entertainment

Most RVs come with HDTVs, DVD players, and more. When considering what to bring along for entertainment think about what keeps you happy.

  • Favorite movies
  • Puzzles
  • Board games
  • Books
  • Music
  • Toy for the kids

This checklist is by no means exhaustive, however, it provides a good idea of what you'll need and can help you avoid over packing. What would you add to this checklist? Share with us on Facebook or Google+.
